A simple way of understanding safer sex is to see it as any sex that does not allow an infected partner's blood, semen, pre-ejaculatory fluid - precum - or fluid from the vagina to get inside the other partner's body. Some kinds of sex - such as kissing or masturbation - carry no risk of HIV.

One week is seven days, and in those seven days 50, 400 people have died of AIDS and AIDS related illnesses.

As World AIDS Day comes to a close for me, I'd like to point out one more fact. Within this twenty-four hour period 7,200 people died of AIDS and AIDS related illness.

7,200 people gone in one day, at the mercy of one disease.

...and tomorrow another 7,200 people will die. And the day after that. And after that.

AIDS is not a "gay thing." Many people who become infected are heterosexual. In a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more females than males ages 13-19 tested positive for HIV.1 The most common source of infection for females of all ages is heterosexual sex.
